With a month of honoring women, it only seems fitting to kick off Women’s History Month featuring a woman who embodies strength, intelligence, love, hard work, reinvention, charity, and, of course, style. Lifestyle expert, author, TV personality and recent UNICEF honoree Moll Anderson knows each day is a new day in which you can “move forward and choose to live better, love deeper, be more compassionate, and make a difference.” In her new book Change Your Home, Change Your Life With Color, Moll explores the deep way in which color can inspire us, shape us, and transform us. Through beautifully written text, inspirational style photos, and recipes, Moll takes the reader on a journey into a world of color. MyScoop interviewed the savvy, sophisticated style icon to seek her advice and wisdom.

What inspires you about waking up each morning? It’s always a brand new day and a clean slate! There’s no limit to what you can do if you make the decision that you want to change. I also believe that we have to forgive ourselves, know that your life has been exactly designed the way it was supposed to be for a purpose. You have the ability at anytime to love yourself enough to change anything that you don’t love about your life and the way you live. People really get hung up living in the past. They don’t want to let go. Trust me I know, I did it myself and its such a waste of life. Life is a gift and its our own personal journey. You do the best with the information that you had at that specific time in your life, once you know better you can do better. Today you can move forward and choose to live better, love deeper, be more compassionate and make a difference!

What inspires your work? I find inspiration in everything from travel, fashion, flowers and COLOR! Color moves me to create vibes, create wardrobes, create homes and most importantly feeds my passion to help change lives. Color has a God given energy that affects our moods and can create a warm and happy atmosphere.

How does your family inspire you? In every way possible. They are the reason I do what I do! Our grandchildren are so much fun and love creating holidays for all five of them. I started a separate colorful Christmas tree for our grandchildren that’s just for them. It’s in the book – tradition is so wonderful.

What is your favorite place in the world? Wherever my husband Charlie and our two King Charles Spaniels, Winston and Harlow are.
Change Your Home, Change Your Life With Color
What advice would you give women going through life’s trials and tribulations? Don’t get caught up in where you’ve been or whose hurt you. Start living and dreaming for where you want to go and how you want to live the rest of your life. Believe that God does have a plan for you. I love vision boards, they are such an amazing visual tool that you can look at as a daily reminder of what you want. It’s really a form of prayer. It also reminds you of what you are accomplishing. They are very powerful.
How do we begin to seek a better life? Make the decision to move forward in your heart and change the way you think. I give an example in the introduction where I wrote on a wall with paint the words that represented the things that were holding me back. It’s very powerful to stare at those words in your space! Then paint over them in a fabulous color that speaks to your heart. Very cathardic!
